@mairin-atha YES. You guys’s have a flare for the dramatic. I can still clearly remember the last war I was minding you for, and man that was filled with drama.
Main thing is to make sure we don’t lose the beautiful object. It needs to stand out in the midst of it all.
And by all means, tailor this to suit Jane. We all know her pretty well, and…[Read more]

@ariella-newheart Yassss. I love the idea of actually having to look for the thing that’s beautiful. Little details. Small things. And I hope life becomes less chaotic soon!
@elisha-starquill Yassss, you’re thinking on a similar wave-length to me.
@steward-of-the-pen Oooooh yes yes. Cool ideas. (but omw, the pizza one made me spit out my chai.…[Read more]

It seems like literal aeons ago, but once upon an Annual Theme of Pacing and Suspense, we looked creating a sense of suspense and atmosphere through objects in writing. And then more recently, we had a post from Martin about The Artist’s Eye, and to seek the beautiful in the ordinary everyday.
For the next two weeks, that’s exactly what we’…[Read more]

A while back we had a post from Martin about The Artist’s Eye, and to seek the beautiful in the ordinary everyday.
For the next two weeks, that’s exactly what we’re doing.
The Prompt: Write a story where you bring out the beauty of something ordinary in a very dramatic setting.
The Dates: Monday 17th – Monday 1st
The Judge: Jane Maree (a…[Read more]

@thewirelessblade Fair call. *nodnod*
@e-b-raulands Woah. I take it you went through a lot of notebooks? Also, yes! Notebooks are so good for planning and ideas, and are super easy to carry about. Plus, then you can just sit them next to you when you’re writing to cut back the number of tabs that you have open on your computer.

@shadowwriter161 To be honest, you can’t really ramble too much for this group. 😉
Y.A fiction and teen fiction appears to be a pretty common genre around here. 😛 I’m a Y.A. writer, and I’m pretty sure @evelyn also aims her work to teens. 😀
If you look here, you can ask and answer questions about writing, editing, characters, and all that…[Read more]

Final post until we’re caught up! *cheers*
So, this one is written by Jane, with the input of Faith and Daeus who are two of Story Embers’ self-published writers, unlike Jane who is very much neck deep in working through the traditional publishing world.
So you know from the start, both have their benefits and disadvantages. Particularly…[Read more]

Hello all!
This week’s (or more, last week’s) lesson is from Martin, and is looking at the pros and cons of typing, and writing by hand.
So, without any further rambling from Jess, let’s see what Martin has to say about notebooks and keyboards!
Things I’ve learned from my own experience with both mediums:
Typing:
Pros:

Hey guys!
If you hadn’t noticed, we’re three weeks behind! *hides face in shame* However, I’m just going to catch it all up tonight so that we’re back on track!
This particular post was written by yours truly on why we should even write in the first place.
If you’re reading this, the chances are pretty high that you’re a writer. But how oft…[Read more]

Hello all!
This week’s lesson is from Martin, and is looking at the pros and cons of typing, and writing by hand. (Also, when I say, ‘this week,’ I mean last week. I’ll message Jane later and see if I’m meant to be double posting later this week to officially catch you guys up. xD) (To be fair, Parimi Alca is pretty far behind in these too. *dies…[Read more]

I promise I’m not taking over your guild. I’m just here to look out for you guys for a week or so. 😉 Jane has a crazy deadline that she’s having to work insanely hard to meet.

@fallen-prince I would recommend them. They write epic fantasy, and agh it’s amazing.
They are, unfortunately, not all 100% clean. Rothfuss is one who I groan when I read it because the story is amaaaazing, but then there are moments where you just want to strangle the author. Sanderson is clean and good though. *nodnod* If you like fantasy,…[Read more]
