    Thanks for the tip! I probably won’t contact them, but thanks for letting me know!
    Nelson is really good at writing. However, I don’t like all of her books, and I don’t think any of them gripped me like The False Prince did. A Night Divided was pretty good though. I was reading another about a girl who was smuggling books, or she was starting to anyway, but I got bored and quit it. The story didn’t really hold me.

    The way I found agents to query was through A LOT of research. It’s really hard to find an agent you want to reach out to. So, I would recommend to an aspiring authors to look up “Christian literary agents” or something along that line. I’ve unfortunately gotten only one response (a reject, but a very kind one). Another hasn’t replied, and I read that if the literary agency she is a part of didn’t reply within a month that means that they are not interested in representing my book. So, two rejects, unless there’s another development.

    I hope to hear back soon from the other agents, but it’s hard to know if they will even reply. It seems like a lot of them are swamped.

    Hi!

    I haven’t really been selling too many copies, but I think it’s going pretty well. My library ordered six copies so that’s exciting! I started the sequel, and (one death later) I didn’t know exactly where I was heading with it and got side-tracked with other projects. I’m in the middle of waiting to hear back from queries with literary agents for another manuscript. It’s really hard to find good agents, and it looks like it’s pretty hard to get one, but I’m trying! The manuscript is called Charging For Friendship, and it’s about a popular middle-schooler who tries to make money off of being friends with people (hence the title).

    I also am starting another series, this one geared toward older audiences (I’m thinking YA or teen, which is basically the same thing). It’s about…well, it’s kind of complicated LOL. Boarding school, man with one leg, lots of characters with mysterious backgrounds…actually several of the characters are connected to one mystery that some of them don’t know about, and certainly most don’t understand it completely! Like I said, it’s complicated.

    The False Prince! Just finished reading that recently, and I am waiting for the next one from the library. I thought the writing was superb, and it really kept me riveted, at the edge of my seat with the story. And believe me, that DOES NOT happen often with books I read for fun. I can only remember two other times with two other books: The Orphan Train: A Family Apart and The First Last Day. The First Last Day is also a great book, but I used to like the orphan train series a long time ago, and it’s full of cliches and cringe-y writing. It’s certainly not all like that, and I would actually recommend kids to read it, but if you’re a little older, then there are better books.

    I was actually disappointed with The False Prince’s ending. *SPOILER ALERT* I’m about to discuss the ending. So, the problem was I had read the Sage was actually the prince BEFORE I got to that part in the book, and I thought that perhaps he had suffered memory loss and didn’t remember. So, when I found out his entire character had a huge, dramatic secret he was hiding from us, the readers, and that his personality wasn’t the same as it had been portrayed to be, I felt let down. I was expecting something else. But still, the writing is amazing!

    Ah, well, then you have not lived! LOL Just kidding. It’s a really gripping book, the first in the Ascendence series (I haven’t read the rest). It’s set in a fake medieval world. Not usually what I read, but the story gripped me so much that it was one of those books you can’t wait to read (and believe me, for a book to do that to me it’s got to be good). I was disappointed at the end, but the rest of the book is sooooo good. My sister liked the end, so that doesn’t mean you wouldn’t. It’s just my opinion.

    Oh, that’s sad about your book club! Hopefully it will start up again!

    Yeah, don’t worry about the alternate version. It was just an idea.

    Have you read The False Prince, by the way?

    @lonathecat,

    I’m so glad you liked it! I started writing it two years ago, and it REALLY changed. In the original story:

    There was no HANDSHAKE,

    Larry, Neil, and Lewis didn’t exist,

    Travis was the one with a twin, not Sadie,

    Mortis was an agent who was imprisoned with Travis,

    Someone who was pretending to be Travis’ mom was the person who went to the Child Rescue Agency.

    Travis was an expert in self-defense Think Jason Bourne. I believe that’s actually where I got my initial book idea over two years ago…from watching some of that movie!

    I actually kept that alternate version. I could post it here if you’re interested!:)

    It’s funny that you like Sadie so much. I (and this is a little writer secret) actually…find her annoying. I know that totally bursts your bubble, but I guess it’s a good thing that I can write a character without letting on that she annoys me. 😉

    I struggle writing female characters, and the book I’m writing now is almost entirely made up of boys. I wrote another book recently called Charging For Friendship that I’ve sent to five agents, and I’m interested to see what comes of it!

    Guess what? I’m not the oldest child! I’m the middle.

    To answer your question, the ending definitely sets up the next book. I’ve started writing it, but I’ve gotten a bit sidetracked, plus, I’m not exactly sure where I’m going with it.

    Travis was a bit difficult to write, as I couldn’t develop his character with backstory and stuff about what he likes because he couldn’t remember it! Main characters can be tricky! Lewis is my favorite. He and I have many similarities.

    How’s the book club, by the way? Did you by any chance get them to read the book? I just think that would be awesome!

    Lord of the Rings is the best! I recently read another medieval-y book called The False Prince. It is very well written and had me gripped (most books don’t do that to me!) However, I was disappointed by the end. I would be interested to know what you think of it! It’s part of a series, so I’m hoping to read more!

    Lord of the Rings is the best! I recently read another book that is all medieval-y called The False Prince. I was gripped by it, though rather disappointed by the ending. Anyway, it is a very well-written book and really keeps your attention!

    I have a lot of favorite books! To name a few, I like The Lord of the Rings, The Losers Club (written by Andrew Clements), and the Mysterious Benedict Society series. What about you?

    Hi!

    Thank you for taking a look at my book! I’m currently in the process of making it a paperback (by the way, it’s soo frustrating! I just spend 28 minutes talking to Kindle Direct Publishing trying to troubleshoot a problem).

    Have you published a book?

    I like to write middle grade fiction because I read it a lot! I also like classics (I’m currently going through Little Women, and I love it!). A really good middle grade is The First Last Day…it’s riveting! 🙂

    That is so great! You’ll have to let me know if it turns out with your book club.

    By the way, it’s not free anymore, it’s 2.99. There is a paperback that will hopefully be released soon.

    @arindown,

    It is funny and cool how ideas for books will just pop into you head. I just had that happen to me driving home from a shopping trip. Usually it starts with a thought related to whatever you are doing, then it sparks a fire of thought. Wow, did I just say that? I’m not the detailed/metaphor type. That’s my sister.

    Anyway, it’s great that you looked at my book. I don’t always write contemporary fiction. Actually, I am part of a teen writers group that writes historical fiction for a school curriculum. I’ve been doing it for three or four years now. They do a contest where every three months they give a Amazon gift card to a random teen writer in their group. Here is the link to the course in case anyone is interested: https://schoolhouseteachers.com/school-subjects/history/this-day-in-history/

    @zee I will try that website. I read somewhere that posting in forums and on blogs related to your book was a good way to promote, but I’m trying to spread it out so I don’t end up spamming someone who doesn’t want my book by repeatedly sending them emails, which is what I thought spamming was.

    Yes, I found out that Amazon doesn’t like free book in exchange for a review thing. Though, my book is already free, so it is not like that, is it, if I occasionally ask people to leave a review if they want? I didn’t think so, but I’d like your thoughts. 😀

    @zee, I’m not sure! I don’t think most people rewrite their characters ages, it was just a question that popped into my head. XD

    I think it would be interesting to know if anyone has done that before. It would really change the plot of most books, I think, to make your main character go from eleven to thirty-one, but it would be an interesting challenge.

    @arindown,

    That’s cool, how many books are you writing right now? I have one I’m currently writing and four more in my head (I wrote down a little), and one I’m taking a break from.

    Thank you so much for your interest in my book! I have a goal of at least 25 copies downloaded a day, and I’m failing today’s goal. I have eighteen.
