I don’t know if this is the best example I’ve seen, but Darth Vader’s relationship with his son was sort of non-stereotypical, what with the hand-chopping that went on.
Just kidding. XD Honestly, I thought Hiccup’s mom from How to Train Your Dragon 2 really broke the mold. She and Hiccup were actually on the same side, instead of butting heads.…[Read more]

I watch Daeus, wondering what our leader is planning, and feeling true, genuine hope for the first time in months. Being seated at this table among so many fellow warriors has rekindled within me something that seemed to have fallen asleep.
Perhaps Melkor’s lies had gotten to me as well, and I never even realized.
But I will not longer doubt;…[Read more]

Hiya!
We had a family over to our house today and we were hanging out with them all day playing Ultimate Frisbee and Uker (if that’s how you spell it, lol) and gaga ball and stuff.
How ’bout you? How’s your writing going? -

@r-m-archer Lol, that’s a great idea to use personality types from Divergent! I should try that sometime.
@daeus-lamb I really like all of your themes–they sound like they’ll make a rich story.
@noahlitle I’ve began the Dragons of Starlight series but haven’t finished it yet. That’s true, the idea of dragons ruling humans is similar to Bryan…[Read more]

I gather the courage to speak up. “I agree–Melkor’s days are indeed numbered. But still, it is urgent that we consult the Book for wisdom and devise a plan of action against him.” I glance around, watching the firelight dance on the faces of new my companions.
“I was just summoned here from Deldore, where the king has succumbed entirely to…[Read more]

@rosemarylouise I’ve never read it, but that sounds extremely interesting!
@daeus-lamb I don’t have a character who speaks funny, but I do try to give each character a different voice. I’m not sure how well it’s working, but it’s safe to say that they don’t all sound identical. I think it would be fun to try writing a character who speaks oddly,…[Read more]

@r-m-archer Thief/assassin characters are the best. : ) Would you mind telling me his personality type?
@kate
Your novel sounds extremely interesting. That’s a creative twist on a common cliche.As for my novel, it’s the first in a two-book series. It’s fantasy-fiction, and basically it’s about another world where the dragons have enslaved the…[Read more]

@kate Thanks for tagging me or I wouldn’t have seen this. 🙂 It’s been interesting to read everyone’s answers and see that so many people are similar to me. I also struggle with writing slowly, but I always tell myself that the slower I write, the more thought I can put into each paragraph, and the more beautiful the finished product will be.…[Read more]

@noahlitle Nice to meet you! : ) I’m gonna try to be on here more often.
@r-j-karas brought up a lot of good points, especially the one about going for a unique character. How about a protagonist with a brain disease like dementia? If it was from their POV, that could be very creative. Just a thought.
@literatureforthelight Same here. I would…[Read more]

Hi, guys!
I always sorta lean toward fantasy since that’s the only genre I’ve written in, but I’m totally open to new things. 🙂
Besides genre, another thing that will drastically affect the prose (I think) is who’s telling the story. For example, if the protagonist is telling it in first person, or if the narrator speaks like his own character…[Read more]
