@emma-starr I read Dave at Night a looonng time ago, but it was one of the first realisitc/historical fiction books I ever read and truly enjoyed. So, it’s kind of special to me for that. Unfortunately, I don’t own that one, though! And I’ve never found a copy of The Wish, so that is one of the few I haven’t read!
Dave at Night isn’t like her o…[Read more]

I love poetry. It’s truly beautiful and has such a unique capacity to address strongly emotional topics. Poetry connects people, and it’s gotten me through some rough stuff as a personal outlet. I’ve never considered myself any good at poetry, but I do really enjoy reading it and tinkering with it on the side for fun sometimes.
It’s really…[Read more]

@rolena-hatfield You should totally try it out sometime! Once I started, I couldn’t stop!! I spend hours pouring over outlining and plotting and theme exercises and it felt like no time at all.

This is so inspiring! Thank you so much for sharing!
Esther has always been one of my favorite stories. It’s so neat to see how we can glean even writing advice from it! I’m partial to the same subliminal approach myself and very much enjoyed seeing you walk through this topic. Thank you!

Ooh! I like the quote! I’m going to have to remember that one. Goes hand in hand with one of my personal favorites by Lewis: “One day, you’ll be old enough to read fairy tales again.”
Wow. I absolutely love your message, especially in that intro. Excellent article. Thank you so much for sharing! The Narnian references really brought your points…[Read more]

@emma-starr Sooo, I’m late to the party…but I LOVE GCL!! She is one of my childhood favorite authors!!! <3 Ella Enchanted is classic, of course, and one of her very best works. But I’m also a pretty huge fan of The Two Princesses of Bamarre. <3 Actually, I have a whole shelf full of her books XD There are only a few of them I haven’t re…[Read more]

RIGHT?! Yes they are! Ohmygoodness! Sidenote! I caved and bought Christy Wright’s 2020 planner and am using it to help me keep on track with my writing goals this year! <3
I'm going through tons of YWW resources and every SE article on theme this week. Kind of throwing everything on pause and trying out an outline from what…[Read more]

Excellent article, Rolena! <3 Love it! (Also, WHOOT WHOOT FOR DAVE RAMSEY!) Kay, sorry, had to nerd out there.
I am such an organized, sticky-noting, highlighting, OCD perfectionist that I would think I would outline everything. And for school papers, I did. But for a story? I have struggled with outlines. I really have. I don't know if I just…[Read more]
