    Greetings, all you wonderful nerds!

In case you can’t tell, I’m into Star Wars, more specifically The Clone Wars. Currently writing, or trying to, a Clone Wars fanfic with a self insert. I know that self inserts are cringy and I stear clear of them generally, but I just couldn’t bear to be left out this time! I also love Transformers, Star Trek, Avengers (though, I guess that’s not technically sci-fi, but neither is Star Wars or Transforms!). I’m also into other nerdy stuff that’s not sci-fi, so feel free to chat if you want about other nerdiness!

    Live long and prosper

    Welcome, fellow Star Wars nerd!

Heh, heh, (nervous laughter) Self-inserts aren’t all cringy! (I mostly say this because my current fan fic’s MC started out as a self insert…) I’ve tried to develop her apart from my own personality, so hopefully she’s acceptable as her own character. And it’s a fan fic, so it’s not like anyone’s going to sue you for wanting to interact with beloved characters (original or otherwise).

What other sorts of (non sci-fi) nerdiness are you into?

What’s everyone’s opinion on Episode IX? I’ve heard about half and half; some saying it’s fabulous and others saying it fell flat. Thoughts?

Here’s my perspective on that question:

Episode IX was a cool movie. It had visual appeal, great acting, a complex plot, and emotional intensity.

But it had a really high standard to reach for, and some just don’t think it got there.

I think one problem was that the makers lost Carrie Fisher and had to do a lot of rewriting. I don’t really know a whole lot about the production process, but that could definitely be an element.

Episode IX also had some inconsistency with the previous episodes, and just Star Wars canon in general.

I can’t say a whole lot else without spoilers.

Overall, it was a good movie and definitely not a waste of time, but I can see why some people would be dissatisfied. Some of them were probably looking for the thrill that the original trilogy gave them, but something as nostalgic as that just can’t be recreated.

What I know in my head and what I believe in my heart are two entirely different things.

@winter_rose I also like My Little Pony, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lord of the Rings, The Eagle of the Ninth Chronicles. And yeah, I’m really trying to make my character likeable and someone audiences can relate to and root for. I’m also super protective and want to take care of my clone troopers!

That’s ok, I was a star trek fan before I was a star wars fan! There’s actually quite a bit in star wars I’m not a fan of, I’m mainly there for the Clones. Personally I didn’t enjoy episode IX. I felt that they should’ve spent more time in other places in the story, and felt they were just scrambling to fan please. I also didn’t appreciate the treatment the fans got from Disney so that shaded my view of the movie. But please know that even though I didn’t like the latest trilogy, I will never disrespect or criticize anyone who does! I would actually want to know why you liked it and actually talk.

    Hello there XD

I just saw the topic title and decided I’d pop in. I’m also as SW nerd. Like nerd to the max maybe. I also have a fanfiction and it’s been so much fun doing research for it on Wookiepedia lol
