So, today was hard… But in the end, God gave me hope and rest. I’m even a little cheery as I write those lines 😉

This is the translation of the original Hebrew. I hope it’ll help, encourage or just make someone smile 🙂 Any critique, grammatical correction, or anything else is welcome.

      Your love and Your faithfulness

      You gave my heart rest,

You did not let me forget

      Your love

      And Your faithfulness,

And You guarded me like a fledgling

I went in ways of folly

      When I trusted my wisdom.

      From Your love

      And Your faithfulness

      Why have foolishly ran?

      I was like a lost sheep –

What lonely and miserable I became!

      From Your love

      And Your faithfulness

I hoped for forgiveness and peace.

      And I came back limping

      Bleeding and faltering.

      Because of Your love

      And Your faithfulness

You hear me when I weep.

      And I hoped to succeed

      In buying and earning

      A little of Your love

      And Your faithfulness

      O, Jesus Christ

You had not held a grudge against me

And You reminded me with a soft voice:

      Because of Your love

      And Your faithfulness

You had paid the price of my sin.

You disinfected my wounds from pus

      And gave them bandages

      Because of Your love

      And Your faithfulness

You filled my heart with peace.

The bandages were not yet removed,

But the chambers of my heart will sing

      Because of Your love

      And Your faithfulness

      That will lighten my eyes.

      When we return, You forgive

And spread ointment on our wounds

      Because of Your love

      And Your faithfulness –

In You alone, my heart puts its trust!

You don't need to see the wind itself in order to hear the rustling leaves.

Hi, Eitan. I’m sorry that you had a hard day.

I think the line should be “how lonely and miserable I became” instead of “what…”

I always love your poetry. I love how much you focus on God’s love and goodness. Thanks for posting this! This poem was relatable. 🙂
