    Ok, so I had a idea of how the battle scene might start.

    What if Ian was helping one of the shape shifters that got hurt in the earlier battle, but didn’t know it was a shape shifter? Then the shape shifter comes back from gathering wood or something and recognizes the group and calls for backup?

    Mine creative juices are flowing again!

    (Note: Don’t hate me, but I’m just gonna pretend that Nora never got out of the brace. I feel like I pushed her out of it too fast, and it’s a good plot point, so… yeah. Sorry Nora.)

    Nora: *crosses arms* *glares*

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Nora sighed as she unrolled her sleeping bag. Today had been crazy, Nora thought. She glanced around the camp, and her eyes landed on Ian. Ian The name was familiar, somehow. Maybe it was the name of one of her parents’ friends. Or maybe—
    “RUFF! R-RUFF! RRRRRUFFFFF!”
    Bramber was barking loudly at Arla. No, not at Arla. He was barking at Limpit, who was hissing loudly. Nora thought she could see little spurts of flame flickering from his mouth. She laughed, grabbing her brush and headed to the creek to wash her hair.
    Holding her breath, Nora ducked her head underwater. The freezing  water hit her and she jerked her head back up, refreshed. That done, she swiped the brush through her hair, and glanced at her reflection. Nora froze. My ears… Her hands dropped the brush and flew up to the tops of her ears. They had always been slightly pointed, something Nora could thank her elven ancestors for. But now… They were almost like Lagoron’s or Larawen’s!
    Nora sat back on her heels, stunned. One hand twisted a strap on her brace. Dazed, she picked up her brush and went to go find Lagoron.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    So, the reason Nora’s ears are more pointed… I came up with the idea that her mom is a half-elf, which means that Nora is quarter-elf. I’ll let you come up with Lagoron’s response, Kinnan.

    MWUWHAHAHA GREAT JOB KYLIE!

    ————————————-

    Lagoron was grooming Radiance when Nora bounded up, limping with her brace and Eowyn on her shoulder. “Lagoron,” she panted, “you need to see this!”

    Concerned, Lagoron turned to the one he had mentally dubbed “Maiden of the Golden Heart” or Malhûrwen. “Is something wrong?” he asked.

    “My ears.” She ran her hands along their points. Lagoron squinted, for once not really trusting his sharp eyes. Maybe he was mistaken, but had they… sharpened? Overnight?

    “Are they always like this?” He fingered his own ears. If only Larawen were here.

    Note: It’s that time of the year when I revise characters—such as changing a name, or changing a physical feature—this is why Nora is back in her brace—and I have another slight change to make. Nora’s eyes are now ice-blue instead of green. This is the last change for Nora. I won’t make any other changes. It also has nothing to do with her being quarter-elf. Yes, I will get on with my next portion of the story.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Nora shook her head violently.
    “No!” She yelped. “I mean, they were always slightly pointed, even when I was little, but I thought that was because my ancestors were elves.”
    Lagoron frowned. Nora felt bad about having to cast yet another weight on his shoulders, but she didn’t know who else to turn to.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Kinnan, I’ll let you type Lagoron’s response. IDK what he’d say about this, and you’re the one with a half-elven character (Larawen is one right? Sorry if she isn’t!), so… Yeah.

    Shaking her head, Nora answered, “No! I mean, they were always slightly pointed, even when I was little, but I thought that was because my ancestors were elves.”

    Lagoron frowned. This was unexpected. Was it normal? What even was going on? As far as he knew, he’d always had pointed ears – Larawen too, and she even had a Man’s blood flowing through her veins!

    “You’ve lived with us your whole life,” he said, speaking more to himself than to the one in front of him. “Why hasn’t this happened before? What triggered it?” Ahh, if only I had access to Thinon’s library!

    Nora nodded, her icy blue eyes curious, confused, and fearful all at once. She opened her mouth to speak, but a sudden shout from Arla interupted her.

    “SHAPESHIFTER!”
