I don’t have discord, but I wouldn’t be opposed to getting it. It does seem like it could be more casual than e-mail. Email might be best for the sprinting, though, since not everyone has discord. A mini server could be fun, however 😂

I don’t have discord, and neither does Joelle, if I read her post correctly. I may or may not be opposed to getting it–haven’t decided yet. My idea is to wait a few days and see how many others are interested in this idea, and then split into groups: a group interested in discord and one that prefers email.
How does that sound to everyone?

@emily-waldorf, Discord is a pretty useful platform. It’s much less like traditional social media and much more like a chatroom with options for everything from mass voice and video calls to screen sharing, even shared music bots (like a group jukebox), and the option to set up multiple channels in voice or text for specific kinds of discussions. It’s like a mini real-time forum. I think it could be handy for managing something like this writing sprint thing.

Agreed. I do prefer discord over regular text messaging, because (1) you can do large groups without using extra data, (2) you can have a dedicated server with separate rooms in it, (3) like you said, you can do mass voice/ video calls (and if you’re not comfortable with video, that’s ok, you can turn your camera off in the call), and (4) If we did email, the probability of our inboxes suddenly exploding (inserts exploding gif here 🤣) is really high.
