    I’m writing a scene in a school right now, and having not been in a school since kindergarten I wouldn’t know these things…For those of you who are or have been public schooled, do schools let kids stay after school hours to study? Or do the doors lock after the bell?

    No one reads these anyway

    @samuel ~

    At our local public school, there’s nearly always a sports practice going on after school. So they leave the main portions of the school open for that – the gym (for the athletes) and the commons/lunch area for other people who are still there. Because I’m not actually public schooled, I don’t know if it’s encouraged to stay at school and study, but I know that kids do it and don’t get kicked out. It’s just often pretty sparse. And then after the practices are done everyone has to go home.
