Yes, I think that’s the next step!Β I actually had no idea you could chat with the whole gmail/google thing.Β Duh!Β If it’s easiest, you could email me.Β I have an email with no personal info attached to it (the beauties of being an introvert).Β That way you don’t have to post your email if you don’t want to.

Also, who wants to go up first?Β I have the front half of a manuscript pretty well ready to go but I’m also happy to have anyone else start.

Sweet! I don’t mind dropping my email here, since I have half a dozen and I’m fairly certain a lot of people know this one anyway πŸ˜› It’s kmsmall46[at]gmail[dot]com.

Well, I have a piece of flash fiction that I’m hoping to have ready for other eyes by Sunday. If there aren’t any other takers, I’d volunteer to have it go first πŸ™‚

@deeprun wait, I just saw you’d already posted your email *facepalm* For some reason it showed up in my email notification, but it doesn’t show up in the actual forum? Anyhow, my email’s above xD

@deeprun I’m so glad you took this on! Your ideas are awesome, and I’m really excited to start the experiment. I sent you an email so you’ll have my address πŸ˜€

@morreafirebird Google hangouts is a brilliant suggestion for chatting with each other! I also have some stuff that’s ready for critique, but would be very happy to start with whomever πŸ˜€ I guess we should come up with some kind of schedule for who’s sharing?

@elisha-starquill I’m so relieved that other people feel the same way! I honestly didn’t know that other writers were looking for the same kind of things, and I love to hear you guys saying the same things I’d thought πŸ™‚

Yes… There are facets of the forum that defeat me! Here’s the email: deeprunicelandics(at)gmail(dot) com

I think starting with the flash fiction first will be best! Shorter, good way to break in a process.Β Not an epic 100k hulk of a manuscript…. I wouldn’t know who has three of those.Β Wordiness is my Achilles heel.

Anyways, email and we’ll start connecting on Google Hangouts.Β Thus begins:
<p style=”text-align: center;”>The Iron Experiment

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Thanks @caseybold for the name!

And truly, it’s my joy to network like this. My number one goal this year is to finish things.Β And to do it with like minded souls? True joy.

Let’s begin.

@caseybold Hey, I just wanted to ask. . . was leaving the Hangout intentional?

Hey, girl, I wanted to ask you a question! So a little while back, several of us put together this writing and critique group here. There are currently five of us in it, and every week (or period of similar length), we go over a piece or section of a piece of someone’s WIP. It’s usually somewhere around 10k words a week. We work through it as we’re able and make suggestions and critiques to help strengthen the writing in the piece. I’ve really enjoyed it, and I was wondering if it would be the sort of thing you’d like to take part in. I know you’re into getting and giving honest, constructive feedback, and we all do our best to provide that in the group. I’ve only submitted a short story to the group so far, but the suggestions I got were really helpful to me, and I’ve already been seeing it influencing and improving my writing as I work on my WIP.

I know you have a pretty busy schedule, but if you’re able, I feel like you’d fit into the group really well! (No worries if you can’t, of course! πŸ˜‰ )

Oh, and we all write some form of fantasy. So we’d have that in common, too. πŸ˜€

I’m in the same boat, but two things bother me:

1. I can’t do physical writing conferences. I live in a small South African town far away from such lofty things, and there’s nothing in my local community (I’ve investigated). Though I’d prefer physical meetups, I recognize my solution HAS to be an online one. But this poses a new problem: time zones. Most Christian fiction writers I come across are in the US. That’s 7-12 hours behind SAST.
2. As I haven’t been able to interact much with other writers, giving and receiving critique, I have no clue how “good” I am. What bothers me about this is, can I actually support a fellow writer? What if I give feedback that’s wrong?

Thanks so much for tagging me! This looks amazing! I was reading through the thread, and what @deeprun was saying gave me goosbumps, because that is the exact thing I would want to look for. You definitely got me on my view of critique. πŸ˜‰Β The only reason I’m hesitating would be my concerns in sharing personal information. What is Google Hangouts? What information do I have to share? To be quite frank, I don’t actually know people on here aside from virtually, and I want to make sure I am keeping myself safe.
