@k-a-greyHi, guys! So, I created this thread because I had this idea… what if storytellers and wordsmiths could work together to craft a story? From what I understand (correct me if I’m wrong), storytellers are those who are always coming up with stories and new ideas, while wordsmiths love the more technical side of writing. I happen to be one of the latter. I love words. I love the subtlety of meaning in each, the rhythm and cadence of their sounds, the mental imagery and connotations each word evokes. I’m also somewhat of a grammar nut. Well, except when I’m trying to create realistic dialogue. However, I struggle with coming up with original stories. Once I get a mental image in my head, I feel I can describe it fairly well, but then I’m not sure where to go from there. So I’m stuck with snippets of nice-sounding prose, but no story.
So I’m wondering, would someone like to collaborate with me? Maybe we could work on a short story together. Then when we’re done with it, maybe we’ll both have learned something new. Care to join me? @anyone

@banana-peacock-warriorHi, @k-a-grey! I haven’t been on here in a while so I’m just now seeing your post. 😉 Really, I LOVE thinking up stories, character arcs, great themes, fun endings, special scenes, yadda yadda, but the hard part for me is actually WRITING things and making it to the end, as fun as it is, and I find myself with tons of editing to do when I do write. Is that what you mean by a storyteller? 🙂

@k-a-grey@banana-peacock-warrior Yes! that’s exactly what I mean! 😀 I actually enjoy editing and revising stuff, making scenes come alive, inserting symbolism and more vivid imagery, etc. but I get stuck trying to think up new ideas. Would you like to work on a short story together? Or maybe you already have one you’d like to revise? I could share some of my abandoned works, too. 🙂

@banana-peacock-warrior@k-a-grey: I’d LOVE to do that! I’ve got a notebook totally chock full of ideas I’d love to work on and I’d also like seeing yours, too! Wanna start a google doc together to work on? I can share a couple of my ideas to work on and you can share yours? A short story sounds fun!!
Be warned, though, I have limited time due to school so I can’t make a for sure time commitment. I’ll try my best to contribute the most I can! 😉

@k-a-grey@banana-peacock-warrior That sounds awesome! Would you like to share your story ideas first? Since I’ve only got, heh, like..three? xD Thanks for doing this with me. 😀

@k-a-grey@banana-peacock-warrior Hello! Yes, the link works, but I can’t comment or suggest edits yet. 🙂 Your sleepwalking idea sounds intriguing! We could work on that concept if you want, or the older story, whichever you prefer.

@banana-peacock-warrior@k-a-grey: You can’t? (😣Technology why do you hate me) I’ll try this again…
Whelp, my written short story (called ‘The Story of the Wishpool‘ for lack of a better name) is only in need of editing so if you wanna look at that then we could work on the sleepwalker concept after? Or the other way around? Really it was you who started the post so it’s your decision. 😁😂 I don’t care which…
Kk actually I think I figured out what went wrong with the first link so this should work!!🎉

@k-a-grey@banana-peacock-warrior Okay, I’d love to see your story! We’ll just work on the sleepwalker concept at whatever pace you’d like. 😀

@k-a-grey@banana-peacock-warrior I’ve left some comments on both docs. I also have some ideas for the characters, if you’re interested. 🙂

@k-a-grey@banana-peacock-warrior I’ve realized I probably don’t have the time to devote myself to this, after all. I’m sorry. I hope my comments were helpful, though. 🙂
Good luck on your stories. I think I will take a hiatus from Story Embers for a while, so au revoir for now.
