April 21, 2019 at 1:40 pm #87169His Bard@his-bardJumping in here kinda in the end without reading every single previous post. But at any rate, I am an INTJ, so concerning the original post, I speak from personal experience.
I do have a tendency to consider myself intellectually superior to most other personality types. But I do NOT consider myself to be superior to other personality types.
Here’s the deal, as n INTJ, my dominant function is introverted intuition. my secondary is extroverted thinking. This is a pretty powerful combination. I can often see patterns, trends, implications, and hints that other people tend to miss. I can often predict the not-too-distant future through gut instinct. IÂ channel all my theories and conclusions through raw logic.
But logic-oriented personalities do tend to be a minority in the world these days. So its hard to live life and not feel *smarter* than the rest of the world.
But smarter doesn’t equal superior. I know because I have spent four and a half years employed in construction, a trade that demands constant awareness to my immediate surroundings and immediate reactions to variations within these surroundings. This is a setting best suited to people with a strong connection to extroverted sensing, which is my weakest cognitive function.
What am I like at work? Constantly spaced out, deep in the darkest corners of my head, doing what introverted intuition does best. And this creates serious problems all the time. I am physically and mentally incapable of paying sufficient attention to the external world. I was made to do things like writing, debating, drawing, composing, and inventing. I am ill-suited to operating heavy machinery.

April 21, 2019 at 4:27 pm #87174Selah CJW@selah-chelyahThat makes a lot of sense and answers a lot of questions I’ve had about INTJ’s. Do you still find that logic always equals truth, or is there any exceptions to that?
Btw, your tag is really neat…what made you think of it?!

~ Created to create ~April 21, 2019 at 6:19 pm #87176His Bard@his-bardWell, I believe all truth comes from Yahweh God, and I believe all logic comes from Yahweh God. But so does love, empathy, compassion, and other emotions, which as an imperfect human, I may in some circumstances write off as illogical in certain circumstances.
So I’d have to say yes, I believe logic always equals truth. But not all of man’s logic is truth. And not all truth is portrayed through logical means.
Thanks for the complement 🙂
Its an abbreviated version of my writing philosophy, which is just a reflection on the things I’ve observed over the years.“Scripture says the tongue is more powerful than a forest fire. I say the pen is even more powerful than the tongue, because spoken word can be forgotten, but written word lasts forever. As authors, we are some of the most powerful mortals on earth. We can build empires, wage wars, and destroy civilizations, and in real life, all through the words we write. My pen is my sword, and with it, I write God’s story.
Authors are also the closest man could ever come to experiencing what it might feel like to be in God’s shoes. We create worlds, fill them with life, and make all things, good and bad, come together to accomplish our ultimate plan for our characters.”Spoken words are forgotten. Written word lasts forever. Writers are the most powerful mortals to exist.
April 22, 2019 at 12:44 am #87196Selah CJW@selah-chelyahYes! I totally agree with you…truth as revealed in Scripture, in context, is supreme. It does always make logical sense, though sometimes it does not to our human minds that are not infallible like God’s. Thus some things may not always seem perfectly logical as we can’t see the big picture like He can.
I love your writing philosophy! What genres do you write?

~ Created to create ~April 22, 2019 at 8:44 pm #87325His Bard@his-bardMy primary project right now is a contemporary fiction series, with a smidge of sci-fi and supernatural mixed in. I also have plans in the works for a ‘star wars style’ sci-fi, some historical fictions, one dystopian, and a small-ish fantasy.

April 23, 2019 at 5:52 pm #87467Selah CJW@selah-chelyahNeat! What motivates you to write the genres you do? What are your his-fic ideas about, if I may ask? I have over 20 WIPs, set in all kinds of eras throughout history. The one I am working on currently is set around 9/11…like the most modern of all. 🙂

~ Created to create ~April 23, 2019 at 7:34 pm #87480His Bard@his-bardThey kinda just ‘happened to me’, I guess XD
The contemporary fic was my first project, which spawned from me wondering what life might have been like if I would’ve had a twin.
Then I watched Star Wars and got the idea to make my own version that directs less attention to midi-chlorians, more attention to God.Then, I discovered how much correlation there is between the stories in the Bible and contemporary history. For example, in the book of Esther, the feast where King Xerxes banished Vashti was likely just before he went to war with Greece. Years went by, and then he eventually returned after losing almost his entire naval fleet in a single battle. It was at this point that he put out the decree to find a new queen.
This gave me the idea to write some books that combine Biblical history, contemporary history, and a smidge of fiction to fill in the holes between the two. Obviously, a major undertaking. As such, far from started. XD But yeah, that’s what my historical fictions primarily are.My contemporary fiction story has a prequel dating back to the Civil War, though, so theres some his-fic there, too.
Then sometime after I joined YWW, I was having a discussion with another writer regarding the animal world, and I got the idea to make a story about a world where the people can shapeshift into different animals of prey. One tribe turns into wolves, another tribe becomes eagles, a tribe of jaguars, a tribe of tigers, etc. And I’m throwing in parallels to Biblical history (a parallel creation/fall story, a global deep-freeze that only one family survived by building a massive underground fortress, “the Citadel”, and so forth).
Finally, I watched Hunger Games, Divergent, Maze Runner, and other dystopians, and I got the impression that they are all so much alike. Humanity broke up into “factions”, utopian government that is actually evil, a “chosen one”, etc I wanted to try and write a dystopian that could maybe not use so many stereotypes.
20 WIPs? Man! I think you might have at least one up on me.
If you’re writing around 9/11, out of curiosity, legit foreign terror attack, or inside job?

April 24, 2019 at 2:40 am #87511Selah CJW@selah-chelyahWow, that all sounds quite intriguing! And your dystopian sounds amazing simple because it is not stereotypical, lol. *draws a breath of relief* Yeah, that is awesome! 🙂 My sister and I are co-authoring a realistically futuristic book together, which has been quite a new experience.
IKR?! Every time I read history, or research about anything, my brain tries to give me a zillion and one suggestions for more books…and some of them are too good to shelve.
What do you mean? Not sure I understood what you’re asking. 🙂 It is his-fic, so totally realistic, but my MC’s are fictitional.

~ Created to create ~April 25, 2019 at 6:32 pm #87722His Bard@his-bardWhat I meant was whether or not you considered the attacks to really be terrorists or not. Not trying to start any discussions or arguments or anything, just curious. The reason being that my story treats it as an inside conspiracy, because I’ve seen enough evidence to lose all faith in the “politically correct” story.
My life philosophy is something along the lines of “All history is written by the victors. But not all that is written is necessarily true. Answer unanswered questions, and question unquestioned answers.”

April 25, 2019 at 6:46 pm #87729Selah CJW@selah-chelyahI wondered if that was what you meant. I don’t go along with the politically correct view either, but that is not the point of this particular book…it just deals with the people affected by it otherwise. I may write another book (non-fiction) on that whole side of 9/11, though. It doesn’t seem like a lot of people know much more than the traditional view. 🙂
Interesting. Where did you come up with that? I don’t know that I agree with you there. “All history is written by victors”. I definitely don’t agree with that! 🙂 Can I ask how much/what kind of history you’ve read? What made you believe that?
Thanks for talking with me, btw. I really enjoy this!
