Music while writing?Β DEFINITELY!
I have spotify playlists (and editor backgrounds) that I set up for the “mood” of the scene I’m working on.Β I find it helps me a lot to stay in the feel of the scene.(Here’s my spotify profile in case you are interested.)
So I love music, but stink at making it.Β I’ve taken guitar lessons a couple of times and it’s like, “Ok, I need a G.Β I know what a G is supposed to look like.Β Ok, fingers, go to it.”Β and… neyrnk.Β Argh!Β Come on, guys, that’s not right at all!
Yeah, me and that “hand-eye-coordination” thing don’t get along so good. :/

August 9, 2019 at 11:49 am #94736Dakota@dakota@emberynus-the-dragonslayer *looks appalled* What dark side?! I was only creating a middle ground. Those who don’t HATE chocolate but who CAN live without it . . . until there’s no more almond butter. ( or maybe you meant the dark chocolate side?)
Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.August 9, 2019 at 2:25 pm #94741Kenzie Pimpo@banana-peacock-warrior@emberynus-the-dragonslayer: Hey! So, I listened to the Austin French songs you recommended and I LOVE them! I think either Why God or Freedom Hymn is my favorite.
@elisha-starquill: LOL yes it’s just so much fun to add things in your story where most readers are like “Huh, well that’s random” and a small few are like “OHHHH! *impressed finger shake at the author*”. XD
@holly-anne: W-wait… y-you don’t like anything REMOTELY sweet? I know God never makes mistakes… but did He forget your taste buds? XD JK
@r-m-archer: Hi! We’ve never really spoken to each other before so… *waves hello*! So I was just scrolling through here… and I was curious… what’s an ocarina? You stirred my curiosity… then I kept scrolling to see that the question had already come up… so I just Googled it… and THAT’S SO COOL! I was totally not expecting that! I wanna learn to play an ocarina! XD
@kayla-skywriter: Heeeeyyy! I love River Flows in You and have wanted to learn it. How’s it coming? Yeah I’ve always wanted to learn guitar…….well……. once I was done learning piano. Then my parents got me my guitar for my birthday last year. π It’s a steel-string guitar. (I actually had to look up the difference between a nylon and steel-string just now… XD)
@anne-of-lothlorien: Wow, 12 years of piano?! That’s incredible! Awesome!
@emberynus-the-dragonslayer (again): So, based on this “dark side” issue, are you a strict milk chocolate lover, too? π (Please don’t say white chocolate… blegh… that’sΒ not real chocolate…) JK LOLβWhen anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.β
ββPsalmβ¬ β94:19β¬ βAugust 9, 2019 at 2:29 pm #94742Anne of Lothlorien@anne-of-lothlorien@banana-peacock-warrior *vigorously hugs you* THANK YOU FOR SAYING WHITE CHOCOLATE IS NOT REAL CHOCOLATE!!!!!
My grandma has been teaching us piano since we started school. There were times when I wanted to quit, but it’s definitely been a good thing.
Also, fantabulous tag name. (Are you a guy, cause I feel like a guy would come up with that name)
I'm short, I like words, and I love people.
No, I didn't draw my profile pic.August 9, 2019 at 2:48 pm #94744Kenzie Pimpo@banana-peacock-warrior@anne-of-lothlorien: *vigorously returns hug* YES. Like I said earlier, my dad is in the chocolate industry and he teaches us about “chocolate anatomy” pretty often. White chocolate isn’t chocolate. It just isn’t! *blegh*
Well, 12 years of piano definitely sounds worth it, to me!!
Thanks about the tag name!! It’s been my nickname for a few years. There’s a long story behind it but if you want to see it, you can go here; I happened to write it all out in a response on my introduction topic…

ββPsalmβ¬ β94:19β¬ βAugust 9, 2019 at 3:38 pm #94750R.M. Archer@r-m-archer@banana-peacock-warrior *waves* Nice to meet you! Yeah, it’s a cool instrument! It can be a little awkward to hold at times (mainly when you’re only covering a couple of the holes and it’s trying to fall out of your hands…), but overall it’s decently easy to play, at least in my experience. π

August 9, 2019 at 7:20 pm #94780Kayla Skywriter@kayla-skywriterI play nylon string, but I learned onΒ a steel string and just got my new guitar a year ago. I am taking classes on how to play classical. Is the only difference between fingerstyle and classical the kind of music you play?
How we chose to fight is just as important as what we fight for
August 9, 2019 at 7:23 pm #94783Kayla Skywriter@kayla-skywriterYes, I love it too. It is actually my favorite song to play on piano. I’ve memorized it and practically internalized it by now, but that doesn’t mean I don’t practice it.

August 9, 2019 at 9:06 pm #94788PenSword@penswordI listen to a lot of music while I write. I’ve actually put together character playlists with songs I that remind me of my characters, and listen to those a lot. Movie soundtracks are also great, especially for getting mood and tone if that’s what I’m struggling with. “Mombasa” from the Inception soundtrack is my absolute favorite for action scenes. Kingdom Pen also used to have a long list of great music for every emotion, I’m not sure if that’s still available on that site or not.
August 10, 2019 at 4:59 am #94804Holly Anne@holly-anneWell i can actually play quite a few chords but I would have no idea what most of them are called. Like I can follow along fine but if you asked me to play an A Minor# chord I’d be like “come again?”. I play almost entirely by ear so I do a lot of fingerpicking etc.
Yes it is pretty amazing having a composer for a dad. Sure helps a huge amount with knowing how to do things music wise. What type of songs do you write? And that’s cool that you do some recording stuff too π
Same about the Grand Piano!!! That is one of my greatest DREAMS. And yes, I will definitely know if I find a money tree…*hey that could be a really great business….wait, they don’t exist. Bother :|* And also I just taught myself guitar, so I go haven’t played any classical music on guitar sadly. I am AWFUL reading sheet music…wel not AWFUL but pretty bad. I don’t think I’ve heard of the Lark. I’ll have to listen to your soul melody π
Hi fellow muso π Oooh yes Two Chellos is great! Especially their album ‘Score’. Or most of it. What kind of songs do you write? That would be great if you put some songs up! π I love your tagline by the way…
Lol, know He definitely didn’t forget them! That’s the problem, it’s like ten times the amount of flavour and sweetness. Like an overdose of sugerΒ blegh. Yeah, it’s quite random, and every other kid in my family is like that. I have it the ‘worst’ though lol. Hey, I mean suger’s not exactly healthy anyway to I guess it’s a sort of blessing? Maybe? I dunno π
Hi! That’s a neat idea doing character playlists! Yes Mombasa is great! Hans Zimmer is a pretty amazing composer!
"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling" (Inception)
Composer, Writer, Sarcastic πAugust 10, 2019 at 9:00 am #94810Anne of Lothlorien@anne-of-lothlorienOoh, yes, Score. I just got it for my birthday. My favorites from that album are May it Be and Schindler’s List.
My songs are… kinda random? They’re not country, not rock, not pop, not hymns… they’re normal? I have one lullaby I wrote that’s kinda not though… it’s a lullaby that a mother is singing to her boy when she sees into the future and realizes that he’s going to grow up to be the villain. Then I have another song about a girl who misses her guy after he died in a biking accident and another song about how nobody has to be perfect. Those are my only mostly completed ones.
I’ll see what I can do with recording and putting them up here!

And this…Β The Perfect One should take you to my unfinished song about not being perfect.
