So, I have this idea.  We all need a creative boost now and then, so I came up with this fun little challenge to get those creative juices flowing!

I’m going to try to explain it as best I can, but if it’s confusing let me know.  Basically someone comes up with a writing prompt and then he/she challenges someone to a mini war.  (And if war sounds too intense then, you can call it friendly competition, but being the crazy writers that we are, I’m sure war sounds much more appealing. 😜)  They can then tag 1-3 people to be a judge.  The judge(s) can then vote on who wrote the best piece based on the prompt and also provide feedback/critique.

    Here are the basic rules:

    1. You can tag an individual or leave it open to anyone
    2. The person challenged has 24 hours to respond (or whatever time agreed upon).
    3. Keep it relatively short (500 words max.)
    4. Don’t read the other person’s work until you’re done with your own.
    5. Have fun!

Hopefully that makes sense, let me know if you have questions or suggestions.  I’m going to post a prompt soon, so stay tuned!

@k-a-grey This sounds really fun. I am busy tonight but maybe tomorrow night I can play this.
I’ll tag some others tho, because this idea is too good to just not go to waste.

sooo, I must respond within 24 hrs and not look at anybody’s work until I answer prompt and we’re at war like cutthroat writing.

    Oh yeah I’m in!!!!

Yay! Thanks, guys! At first nobody responded, and I thought nobody was interested so I was kinda bummed out, but this is awesome! 😂

Thanks for tagging more people, I wasn’t on SE for awhile and now all my old friends aren’t active anymore😭

But anyway, yup, @this-is-not-an-alien , you got it. 😂

So, first prompt. Write about a character experiencing an intense emotion, but here’s the twist: you can’t give away what the gender of the character is. The judge for the prompt has to determine if it’s a guy or a gal speaking from the tone in dialogue and the character’s actions.

Sound interesting? Okay, I’m not sure who to tag, so I challenge anyone, first come, first serve,one-on-one. Whoever accepts the challenge can then tag the judge(s). You have until midnight EST on Friday, Dec. 17.

Write to the death! *cough* okay, well, not really.

Oh I’m sorry! I saw this and thought it sounded really awesome but I didn’t say anything because I didn’t know if anyone else would join. I should’ve responded, I hate that I made you feel bad 🙁

That prompt is sooo cool and I have the perfect idea but I work all day tomorrow so I will have zero time to write it.

I’ll try to catch the next one!

(However I would be willing to be a judge if anyone wants me to)

    @erynne Aww, don’t feel bad.  It’s okay. 🙂
Also, I can extend the time if you want. You were the first one to respond to the prompt after all. Just post it when you can. (Cause if you have the perfect idea, I don’t wanna see you waste it😉)
Btw, I like your profile pic!

No you don’t have to do that! I can wait for the next one. We are going on vacation in a couple days so I’m not sure If I’ll even be able to do the next one… If I could write one while I am on the road that would be fantastic (it’s a 10 hour trip lol) (man I wish I was getting my laptop before then… Could you imagine how much writing I could get done in 10 hours? Well I guess 20 since we do have to come home)

Thanks for the offer but I’ll keep my idea and maybe use it later 😉

*grinz* And then the Grinch got an idea. A wonderful, awful idea.
Hey, yo, @noah-cochran, you’re awful and lady’s POVs so this prompt’ll be good for you *Gandolf voice* and most amusing for me 😛
Before the stroke of midnight you must write a character scene under 500 words of a character experiencing a strong emotion they have to hide. You also can’t reveal their gender, it must be inferred by the judges. (Which is us…like 3 other people we have to tag?)

Also no looking at the answers the other competitors give until after your’s is written 😉

    *sigh*

I’m quite busy Cathy, but for you, I’ll do this once.

So let’s make sure I understand this right.

you’re awful and lady’s POVs so this prompt’ll be good for you

I’m awful and you’re a lady? That’s an interesting sentence–to say the least.

of a character experiencing a strong emotion they have to hide. You also can’t reveal their gender, it must be inferred by the judges.

A character whose sex is unknown and who is experiencing some kind of strong emotion that they have to hide? That is like the weirdest prompt ever. What do you mean “have to hide?” Like hiding it from other people or from themselves?
