This is a hymn for the previous generation.

Tell the coming generation, of these words I hear you say
Tell the coming generation, of His faithfulness this way
Tell the coming generation, of His Love for everyone
Tell the coming generation, of these words I hear you say

        Tell us how,
        Christ bled and died
        Tell us of,
        The Crucified!
Tell the coming generation, how he rose up from the grave
Tell the coming generation, tell us now

Tell the coming generation, of His saving blood anew
Tell the coming generation, for I fear we may be few
Tell the coming generation, so be quick do not delay
Tell the coming generation, of these words I hear you say

Tell the coming generation, Holy and inspired Word
Tell the coming generation, how to live true for the Lord
Tell the coming generation, so we’ll witness for God’s Truth
Tell the coming generation, of these words I hear you say

A ballad that has only begun!"

This is one I wrote a long time ago but just revisited and revised. Enjoy!

          The Music of Creation

I sit here underneath this old tree
Listening to the breeze whispering through its leaves.
Over there’s a very busy bee
Pollinating the morning glories on the eaves
While he hums a rhythm beat

I can hear bluebirds and robins singing
High up above my head, sweet in their harmony
There is a woodpecker’s drum ringing
Out loudly in the walnut woods, while keeping time
Puts more rhythm in their chime.

          The music of Creation
I can hear their voices as it falls on my ears.
          The Master’s orchestration
It’s a symphony that’s been sung on for years.
          The music of Creation

Now as I wander ’round in the wood
Squirrels and tiny chipmunks chatter to their song
Directed by the Master so good.
Nearby the creek’s water splashes and flashes along
So sings the creatures in throng.

Oh, Lord, Father, the Great God
My Savior, my Redeemer, my King
How beautiful is the hymn all Your creatures sing
Oh, Lord Jesus, my Great God
How can I stay so sad and silent?
All around me the melody is so vibrant
          With creation I’ll sing
          Praises to You, my King

          The music of Creation
Thus all His handiwork lifts up praise to their King
          The Master’s orchestration
I shall awaken my soul, strike the chord and sing.
          The music of Creation

          Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

@kari-karast I had some but my computer-cleaner program thought it was a junk file so I have to re-create it.

                Anyway, here is a hymn:

O Lord, to You this anthem raise
                This melody, eternal praise
To You Lord, To You Lord
                This anthem carried out!

                The dawn of time, eternally
                The angels praised Your Deity
To You Lord, To You Lord
                This anthem carried out!

Faith, by this we are justified
Grace is the way we’re sanctified
To You Lord, To You Lord
                This anthem carried out!

Your death has now erased our sin
God’s grace to all who trust in Him
To You Lord, To You Lord
                This anthem carried out!

"The Song of the Prince surpasses them all
A ballad that has only begun!"

*slides in through back door* Uh, I has lyrical poem for ya’ll. It’s kinda rap style but I still imagine myself singing it, so, um. *glances around awkwardly* I hate to interrupt the hymn singing party though. I like the hymns. 😀

For the music, I kinda imagine that it’s like Lindsey Stirling’s Don’t Let This Feeling Fade for the chorus and that the end is like the end to TobyMac’s Lose My Soul. Enjoy!

                Don’t even love,
                Don’t even love this world.

Them broken people, they lovin’ the things that burnin’.

                Don’t even call,
                Don’t even call that phone,
                Cause all you’ll get,
All you’ll get is dial tone.

Love the people that God has brought into your life,
But don’t have anything to do with the idols that they prize,
                What they prize,
For that, they’ll cut you up and watch you bleed,
Deepest wounds from the people close to me.

                Don’t stop lovin’
                Don’t stop lovin’ mate,
But make sure your love is in the right place.
Make sure that Jesus is in your heart first,
Make sure that he’s the one showing you what you’re worth
Because lookin’ for the admiration of other people is a chain,
                A stain
                It will drive you insane.

                Don’t even love,
                Don’t even love this world.

Them broken people, they lovin’ the things that burnin’.

                Don’t even call,
                Don’t even call that phone,
                Cause all you’ll get,
All you’ll get is dial tone.

Don’t get me wrong and use this as an excuse for hate,
I wanna give you somethin’ to strengthen your faith,
                Strengthen your faith
                When everything’s against you,
When you’re all alone in the scene because that’s how they raised you.

Remember, that in Christ you’re never alone,
Look for love from him seated on his throne,
Don’t go lookin’ for love from peeps cause they will let you down,
Don’t get taken by their idols and let them take you out.

You’re never going to earn love from people,
                Listen to me on this,
It’s a waste of your time. But if you’re
In Christ, you’re a new creation,
Loved by God and sometimes even by your fellow believers.
But the world will try to fool you with all sorts of things that look
                Like love, feel like love.
I’m here to tell you that those things aren’t real.
Don’t go chasing after stuff because it’s not you,
You’ll get mad when you don’t get it and hurt others.
You’ll get mad when they don’t serve your idol.
                Don’t do this.
                Don’t do this to us.

                —————

Full disclosure: I was inspired by @h-jones thread here: https://storyembers.org/forums/topic/question-what-the-dickens-is-true-love/ though the definition of love I used in the thread isn’t the one that I used in the poem. The poem definition is broader: it refers to people thinking that they are benefiting something, going off what they think is good for someone else rather than what the Bible says is good for them, as well. It just means affection and commitment to the good of something, without necessarily putting truth in the picture.
