Once you’re ready to pursue publication with your WIP, you should try Rick Riordan Presents, which is a publishing imprint by the guy who wrote the Percy Jackson books and it publishes books based on all different sorts of mythologies! I don’t know if they’ve done Irish or Celtic yet.

    Hi Bethania,

Do you have a copy of Thomas Bulfinch’s “Bulfinch’s Mythology”?

It offers a good coverage of many of the mythologies.  It includes some of the British and Celtic legends, as well as Hero Myth and the Legends of Charlemagne.

Hi there! Thanks for letting me know! I did consider Rick Riordan Presents, but I think I’ll be going to for a Christian publisher if I’m going down the traditional route. There’s a publisher called Enclave Publishing who do Christian fantasy and sci fi. And I’m also looking at sef-publishing so we’ll see. Also, though my books is no way R-rated, I don’t think 9-12 year olds are the intended age group for it because it will be hitting some pretty dark subjects, so I will be going for the YA audience.

Come to think of it, Rick Riordan announced last year that he was working on books based on Irish/Celtic mythology. He did a Masters in UCC Ireland on Celtic civilisation, so it was making headlines in Ireland at the time of the announcement. I’m no longer a fan of his, but I’d be interested to see what he comes out with 🙂

We definitely need good Christian fantasy and Enclave looks like a really great publisher. I hope you manage to publish it one way or another–your book just sounds so fascinating to me!

I do have Bulfinch’s. Haven’t really read it yet–I skim it every now and then when I want to look up something. I should read the other sections though as I’m very well-versed in Greek mythology, perhaps a bit too much XD
