Hi, there! I’m the Little Jupitertion, but you can call me Jupi if you want.
There’s not a lot of interesting stuff about me. I’ve been homeschooled almost my entire life, I have ten crazy siblings, I spend most of my time writing or procrastinating (I’ve been trying to fix that haha). I recently came to the realization that my writing leaves much to be improved, and Story Embers seemed like a good place to start improving it, so here I am.
Contrary to what my name might suggest, I don’t actually write a lot of sci-fi. I’ve dabbled in it as well as a few other genres, but my fantasy stories always seem to turn out better. Though The Little Jupitertion is actually a book I wrote, so the name is not without lore lol.
A few things I like: the color orange, Jupiter, Axolotls, and Owls.
… Idk what else to say, so I’ll leave it at that, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. ^-^

May 12, 2023 at 6:23 pm #157653Inkhorn@inkhornHi and welcome to Story Embers!
I’m Inkhorn, a former pantster who has recently converted to plotting as well as a major procrastinator (I try to justify it by saying that I’m planning out my chapters in my head when in reality I’m coming up with plot points that would only bring about numerous plot holes).
Now for questions (horrible transition, I know).
What is The Little Jupiterion and your current WIP about?
Why is Jupiter your favorite planet?
Which do you like more: oranges or tangerines?
Are any of your siblings writers?
What is your favorite genre to read?
Do you have a favorite picture book?
May 12, 2023 at 9:06 pm #157654The Little Jupitertion@queen-of-jupiterHi, Inkhorn! Haha, what a coincidence, I’m also a pantser!
The Little Jupitertion is about Kya-lee, an alien from Jupiter, who escapes from Area 51 with a few of her friends and the help of Tee-kay, a Neptunian with a mysterious past. They have to help stop the Neptunians from taking over the universe, but the government is also chasing them down.
I have quite a few WIPs right now, so that is a very loaded question 😅 I’m trying to finish my mess of a NaNoWriMo from 2022. It’s called The Everstone, and it’s about a young girl named Mia who’s staying at an orphanage while her parents are off on a trip. The trouble starts when she accidentally uncovers a dark secret of one of the orphans, Judith, who had her soul stolen by Mim. Mim had his heart stolen, and it is now the center of the Earth and the only thing keeping out the Void, a sentient darkness that seeks to consume the universe. But of course, Mim wants his heart back, and they must keep him from it while also searching for a way to stop the Void. … as I said, very messy lol, but I made a lot of progress with its plot so far and hopefully rewriting it won’t be too painful.
I don’t really know why Jupiter is my favorite. I’ve just always liked its colors and thought it was cool how big it was. Do you have a favorite planet?
I like tangerines more, but mostly because they’re easier to peel and thus easier to eat haha.
None of my siblings are huge writers like me, but I think my older sister has done a bit of creative writing and screenwriting.
I’m not actually sure I have a favorite genre. I kind of read around a lot; instead of a favorite genre, it’s more of a favorite vibe. It’s somewhere around the lines of chaotic good adventures. What about you?
I don’t remember what it was called (we might still have it, I’ll look around), but we had this little christmas book that didn’t have any words, it was just pictures. But it told this really sweet story about a poor old woman on Christmas Evening, and some statues of the three wisemen come to life and make her a Christmas dinner. I’ve always admired how they told the story without any words.

If there was any planet that would try to take over the universe, it would be Neptune…

I bet Mia’s parents are really regretting going on that trip. XD But, you have an interesting concept going on with your story. (For some reason I really like the sound of a “sentient darkness”)
Do you have a favorite planet?
I have always loved Saturn. Something about its rings just connected with four-year-old me.

I’ve never really though of having a favorite vibe, but that does make sense. I have always loved fantasy, but lately I’ve been getting into biographies. I’ve been steadily making my way through Alexander Hamilton, which I highly recommend. Really, I enjoy all history books especially The Boys in the Boat, which I could talk about for hours.
What books do you recommend that have “chaotic good adventure?” That term has peaked my interest.
May 18, 2023 at 9:27 pm #157679The Little Jupitertion@queen-of-jupiterThe Saturnians in The Little Jupitertion are actually really interesting. You don’t see a lot of them in the book, but I have some pretty cool lore on them. They were actually the first to colonize Jupiter’s moons. Also, I’m not sure if they’re the only ones, but they worship God and refer to him as Iam. You can read the book here: https://www.quotev.com/story/14169871/The-Little-Jupitertion/1 It’s short, and I wrote it kinda quickly, so it needs a major rewrite, but my friends enjoyed it so it must not be totally horrible haha.
I think we have The Boys in the Boat, maybe I’ll take a look at it..
I highly suggest The Flying Inn by G.K. Chesterton and Miss Buncle’s Book by D.E. Stevenson. Miss Buncle’s Book isn’t technically adventurous, but it definitely still has the vibes.

June 11, 2023 at 3:56 pm #157803Sarafini@sarafiniHi Jupi, I’m Sarafini (Sara). I write Sci-fi (a couple of my WIPs are in this genre) 1 fantasy/contemporary WIP, 4 Thrillers and I’m hoping to give His-fic and non-fiction a try. I will never write horror and the only romance will be on the side. I’m an adult homeschool graduate. How long have you been writing? What’s your favorite genre to write in?
June 11, 2023 at 4:15 pm #157804The Little Jupitertion@queen-of-jupiterHi, there! It’s actually hard to say how long I’ve been writing because I know I did some short stories as a kid before actually getting into writing. I think I was 10 or 11. so about six years now. What about you?
My favorite genre to write is definitely fantasy. I love letting my imagination run wild. Which is good because I’m pretty sure my imagination would run wild with or without my consent.
I’ve tried writing realistic fiction before, but I always struggle with drawing out the conflict in ordinary life. Either there’s not enough to keep it interesting or there’s no identifiable main conflict. I have a few concepts for historical fiction, but I don’t know enough history to start them lol. I also started a new sci-fi recently, though I want to finish some other WIPs before really getting it going. What are some of your sci-fi stories about?
