@k-a-grey@eden-anderson @evelyn Thanks, you guys!
Can you see the moon tonight where you are? If you can, you might see where I got the idea. 😉

Hello my dear poet friends. It’s been a while since I’ve wandered over here. (:
How are all of you?
I have a little poem-ish thing (that is hopefully funny 😛 ) but I’m not sure if it is clear enough. I was hoping that you would read it and let me know.
In Defense of Typos
Dear Teacher ma’am,Spelling typos are not bad,
They make more cents,
Than the rules. And hence,
You should not be so mad.
Respectfully,
Timmy

@k-a-grey@evelyn Haha, I like it! Funny and kinda cute in a way. Yes, it makes “cents.”
I actually haven’t been on the forum for like two months, but I wrote this little piece that maybe someone would like to critique?
I could bemoan my losses,
Misfortune, and difficulty;
I could refuse to look for silver linings in cloudy skies;
But all the past is nought to me,
For when I look through teary eyes,
All the lights look like crosses.

@evelyn@k-a-grey Thanks! That’s a relief.
Ah! That is lovely. I had never thought of it that way. (:

@elena-mayHere’s a goofy poem that I wrote a few years ago! The style is inspired by the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll. Enjoy and let me know what you think. Anything that I could revise?
Yarlaguk and Bumble Bee
A nonsense poem fable
The clumsy five-toed Yarlaguk
Sat down by the wavey brook,
Watching while the Willies wuked the whirl.
Thinking to himself belong,
In a very dreamy tong
Said, “Isn’t such a day just like a song!
I wish, just wish, that I could dance along!
If I could waltz in gargle-fly,
Or even march a lullably,
Wouldn’t the bright ski of sky be long!”
“But no!” laughed a passing bee,
“In the sky the skee is me!
And netter flew a better bree than I!”
But while he spake this silly drath,
A tree walked up and block’d his path!
And netter bee had better cried than he.
The clumsy five-toed Yarlaguk
Laughed until his feathers shook!
And said, “I have my lesson took!
I’ll sit down by this wavey brook,
And all around me gladly look,
But I’ll let the whirl the Willies wuk,
And do the dee that’s blub and blook for me.”

@k-a-greyAnd before could do,
Even forever go happily.
If jesting king love me
Not other pretty queens,
Raindrops shall tear up;
Victory will ‘xplain your zeal.

@evelyn@k-a-grey Ooh I’ve always wanted to try writing a poem like that! You did a great job.

@k-a-grey@evelyn Thank you! Try it, it’s fun! It was interesting to string together the words in alphabetical order and the fact that the first two lines don’t really make sense makes it even more crazy. XD
I like your profile pic by the way!

@evelynThis thread has slowed down a lot but here’s something I wrote recently making fun of poets, which was fun to do. (:
CHEESE
A wise man once announced
His newest deduction:
A lack of cheese in the poetry section,
A statement that promptly led
To a gold rush excursion
Of eager young wordsmiths mining
For a satisfying conclusion.
So now it makes me wonder
If he is pleased
With all these new poems
On the topic of cheese.
How is everyone? @kb-writer @libby @h-jones @k-a-grey @elena-may

@kb-writerI love it! It’s so cute! In fact, it has inspired me to new levels of artistry…
Holy cheese
It might sound cheesy
To call cheese holy
But it has holes, complainers! Please,
I think it’s easy
To mean it fully
When you say you eat holy cheese.
Always remember you're unique...

@k-a-grey@evelyn @kb-writer Wow, those are really cheesy poems. 😆 OK, this is fun:
I essayed once to write a poem about cheese.
I tried awfully hard, if you please.
But try as I might, I failed;
This effort my poetry curtailed.
So now I shall write about peas.

@evelyn@kb-writer Oh my goodness I love it!
@k-a-grey And yours too! Haha. That’s amazing.I had no idea I would inspire such a flurry of cheesy poems hehe. XD XD

@kb-writerYou could even say it was…
A statement that promptly led
To a gold rush excursion
Of eager young wordsmiths mining
For a satisfying conclusion.
So tell me, are you pleased,
To see so much about cheese?
Always remember you're unique...
