I just came into an all-out chicken-war! *Uses frying pan as a weapon. Definitely was not holding frying pan for dead chickens* 🙂

Here’s a poem I wrote recently! I hope you enjoy! (And critiques are welcome as always. 🙂 )

    Nightly Inspiration

It’s not until I close my eyes
While at night I lie in bed
    That revelations come to me,
    And burst inside my head.

I toss and turn and yes that I
    Should be asleep I know!
But I have got a poem inside
    That bounces to and fro.

No! I must not let it bother me,
I must not let it out!
I must curl up and fall asleep,
    And toss not all about.

But rhymes spin through my thoughts with ease,
I dare not miss my chance.
Who knows how long this race will last,
    Or my mind’s poetic dance.

So hurry now before it fades,
    Go find a feathered pen,
Go grab some parchment paper now,
    And write upon it then.

@evelyn  The same thing happens to me!  Why does inspiration come just when you should be going to sleep?   Also, if you think you can remember it the next day, you never can. 🙁

The same thing happens to me! Seriously. The last poem I had published on SE was one of those late-nighters that won’t let you sleep. 🙂

Actually that poem was written at one in the morning one night when I couldn’t sleep. XD

Lol, when you write a poem about itself. 😉

This isn’t technically a poem, but idk, it might bring a chuckle… 🙂

    Objection

    Global warming… Ha!

    They’ve never been

    To New England in January.

@k-a-grey Haha! I like it!! XD

I’m sure you could tweak it to make it into a poem!

    Something like…

    They told me global warming

    Is taking o’er the world,

But I suppose they’ve never been

To New England in the cold.

Or if you want to keep January in there…

    They told me global warming,

    Is changing weather from ordinary,

But I suppose they’ve never been

To New England in early January.

Anyways, just a couple ideas there. 😉

Here’s another funny poem I wrote to try out a different style. Let me know what you think (critiques are welcome!)

    The King and the Spider

The Knights came nigh to the young, brave king
To find the truth to his lofty claims.
The King came down from his esteemed mare.
The Knight’s question puzzled the black spider:
“Oh my lord, is it true that you fear nothing?”

The King’s laugh rattled the poor black spider
and nearly scared off his trembling mare
He asked the Knights “Do you really question?
“Hear the truth, my friends, not a stupid claim:
“Dear Knights, what on earth scares a young brave king?”

The Knights agreed and so did the mare
And the King also had a lingering question:
“Knights, tell me who made such a foolish claim?”
And the King’s voice boomed, it inspired the spider
So he leaped to the face of the helpless king.

And the flurry there brought a much different question
For the Knights heard a squeal from the brave young King.
Everyone knew the answer, and so did the mare
but none dared make such a painful claim
for the Brave King shrieked over one small spider.

So if you’re ever haughty on a darling mare
and you willingly make such a pompous claim
that you fear nothing like the poor young king
Then think real hard about the screech and the spider
And don’t invite such a dangerous question.

    An Observation

The moon is just a tiny sliver

    In the sky tonight.

    Some great sky-giant must be

    Clipping his fingernails.

I’m late for saying this, but your poem made me smile. 👍 👍 😀

    Also, @eden-anderson and @evelyn  Thanks!

@k-a-grey Haha! I would never have thought of that metaphor. That’s amazing. xD

Now I will never look at the moon the same way again. 😛

    😉
