@libby Welcome back! I was wondering actually the other day what you and other poets of the “funny poems” thread era were up too. 😉

    @emma-starr
I normally don’t like haikus, but I love yours. They really are lovely. <3

@evelyn That means so much to me! <3

I’m going to dump a lot of beta poems on you, choose which one you like. Be warned, though, two of them are found poems, and the rest were made with my “Edgar Allen Poet” magnet thing, so weird and morbid

(found poem, from page 99 of Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield)

    Ginger Peppermint

    Been months, months more

Never for want of a story

I never, with tears in my eyes, affected to be with mirth

This put me out, very often

Whatever i had within me that was romantic and dreamy

    was encouraged by much storytelling,

is not likely to be much learnt.

Anyone can do anything in a life of constant misfortune.

(found poem, lyrics of a song)

    I have slipped and danced,

I’ve climbed and joined sun-split clouds,

Done things you have not dreamed of.

    I’ve chased and flung

    Through footless halls of air…

    I’ve topped heights,

    and, while silent,

    Put out my hand

    (poetry magnets)

    I must kiss the sky

    fly up to try,

    then fall

    Believe in the unknown,

    walk like midnight.

    Come fill my skin.

    Whisper every dream

    You love our evil face,

    tell-tale shadow,

    silent heart,

    lonely howl,

    full crypt,

    dead flower,

    cold amontillado,

    hole of confusion.

    And a couple of haikus

    Coffee, oh, coffee

oh how hot my hatred burns

    like a scalding gulp

    chemistry is cool,

but, though, the labs are better

    we light stuff on fire

I’m either into depressing ones, or irreverent haikus

i could've gone outside to take a walk, but i know that i wouldn't've come back

    Nice!

Depression as of the rain, to some

Where others would take, decorant hues.

    Petrichor and chrysalism, taken as of the withered weed;

Brought and chained unto the air,

Depression of aught, this of the brain.

To Him we look, and see the light,

Of Him we read and comfort, have

To set the sun within the sky…

This of the best of merchandise.

This upon a thought of mine, to pre and sent this riddled rhyme.

@e_elaine_soup5 Wow, I really like them all.

I’ve heard of poetry magnet sets, what are they like??

awesome and great for writers block. You get this little–i say little, its 200 words–and they’re all magnets that you can graft together to make a poem. I think its a good warm up for writing, like you you warm up with an instrument or singing.

there are a bunch of different types, like i got the Allan Poe set, but there’s an Austen one too.

@e_elaine_soup5 I love the song lyrics one. Sun-split clouds is a great image! The haikus were great too, especially the line “we light stuff on fire.” 😀

@evelyn Our local book/coffee shop has a magnet poetry board hanging on one of the doors inside. People put together lines of poetry from the little magnets and you can be inspired and make your own. It’s really cool.

You should write a lot more haikus.
