Hope Y’all enjoy as we say goodbye to fall. Today it snowed . . .’Winter’s coming soon . . .’

    Autumn’s Joyful Hours

    Autumn blusters, chilly gusters

    Whistle through the trees,

Snatching away some of their leaves

And scattering them across the yard and in the eaves.

    Ruddy hues and heavenly blues

    Blend into a scene.

    Scarlets and golds color between

The feathery clouds and heatherly earth’s fading green.

I escape and walk this landscape

    Musing over thoughts-

Thoughts of  this season’s most sought joys

And all of its blessings. For them I’ve got to give thanks.

    Orchard hillsides, festive hayrides,

    A pumpkin carving day,

Battle in the cornstalks and play

In piles of leaves, hiding ourselves away.

Pumpkin pie sliced and cinnamon iced

    Rolls topped with cream,

Apples dipped in a caramel dream,

And buttered biscuits with jam of berries picked by the stream.

    Apple cider and campfires

    Warm the chilly nights.

    Twinkling stars in the heights

Above us wink, tiny sprinklings of brighter lights.

    Grateful feasting, our thanks giving,

    Sharing with good friends

    Blessings our Creator sends

And singing the hymns of heartfelt praise ’til the day ends.

    Autumn colors, chilly gusters,

    Winter’s coming soon.

    Snowy nights under the moon

Of holiday choirs singing a merry sleighing tune.

    Autumn colors, chilly gusters,

    My heart shall miss you

    For this winter grateful too,

But nothing else can replace the fall in all its hues.

    Autumn colors, joyful hours-

    I shall miss you.

The first two stanza are my favorites. The fifth one is hard to think about, since I’m a low-carber.

Comments, questions and critiques are welcome!

    Psalm 119:11
Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

@dakota You definitely didn’t sacrifice word choice for the rhyme–beautiful!

    @dakota – Beautiful!

I am not a cold weather person, but your poem puts me in the mood for all the great things of fall.

    =) I love your style.

Clumsy but cute. Apologizes a lot. Doesn't shed. Much.
