Hello again, I had a weird writing question pop into my mind the other night.

My bathroom was painted yellow, detestable shade for that particular room. It was repainted last week (happy applause) along with other rooms, including the horrid red in the school room, I am thrilled to pieces that it is no longer that color.

Well, the other night I was super excited by the new paint color for a very odd reason. Whenever we go out of state, I always think that my eyes look bluer, and I wondered if it actually was that Texas made my eyes grey. Well, what do you know, my eyes are NOT grey!! The awful yellow made my eyes look that way, and now I am so happy to see that my eyes are indeed blue.

So, weird story, but here’s the question. I love writing eye descriptions, I have so much fun with them!! The other night I wondered what might happen if I asked y’all what descriptions come to your mind over your eyes. So, go stare in the bathroom mirror and get a good description in your head, come back and paste it on here please,  I would love to hear what y’all have to say and (hopefully) get some ideas for character eye colors.

you’re up first because I saw a stuffed hedgehog tonight that made me think of you. <3

Awww, a stuffed hedgehog?! So cute! 😉

How I would describe my eyes? Hmmm…*runs off to go stare in the mirror*

My eyes are dark brown, with hints of green lurking around the pupil. I’ve been told I have beautiful eyes…but I think they are fairly generic. 🙂 Not really expressive, but you could call them happy eyes, I think.

I don’t know…I feel like that’s a poor description but then, I never tried describing my eyes (or anybody elses) before. 😛

Ooh, that does sound beautiful!!! Seriously, I love green eyes… I have blue with gold around the pupil. I can actually see you with happy eyes, somehow it seems to fit (I mean, you give hedgehugs!!). I think my eyes are more expressive than happy, maybe more… dreamer’s eyes, but enough flash to pull off a good glare when needed.

Do you ever think there are situations where your eyes have a habit of doing something? When I’m talking to people, sometimes they can be very big, but other times narrowed with a slight smile on my face. How would you think of them from a different angle?

    Eye color is soo cool!

    *looks into the mirror*

Betwixt the shades of blue and green, sits the color grey. It’s takes in light and makes a well… deep and deep and deep. Looking into the mirror… closer… I see a grey back ground surrounding a dark black pit… but spread among the sea of grey, are little sparkles of green…

So! My eyes are a mix of green grey. They used to be clearly blue, but actually changed over time going from a more green to grey. Right now it’s mostly grey, but with enough green to call them green eyes. And who knows… there might still be a little blue that I’m not seeing! 🙂

But from what I can tell they take on a solemn though not sad color. Maybe calming.

(also… I’m a bit color deficient, so there might be more variation than I’m seeing)

I just asked my mom… and she verified that my eyes are grey right now with a little green. No blue. 🙂

Ah, thou hast made it to the discussion, dear @wordsmith!

I like it!! Good description, and once again, I love green eyes, so lucky you (although I am glad I have blue eyes, would not trade that for any other color). Takes in light well? That’s pretty cool actually. I might keep both you and Eden’s descriptions kept in mind for variation among my green eyed characters. I have two with very green eyes, emerald eyes and poisoned eyes. Two of my favorite characters actually… Really?? What do you mean by color deficient? Like you aren’t picking up certain shades? Oh dear… Like, you can’t see blue??? Oh, that sounds horrible… Blue is my favorite color.

Going to go shut my eyes now…

BTW, The Tolkien friend loved the pic I sent her of your quote, she said something about framing it and looking at it when wearing the horrid things.

You have gold in your eyes?!! 😮😮How cool is that!!!!! WOW!

Ohhh, I could totally see you having expressive eyes…you seem to be a deep thinker. And yes, the glaring part fits you. 😉

I have no idea what my eyes do when I can’t see them! They could be going cross eyed for all I know! 😜

@ericawordsmith Um, the color of my eyes change from green to grey to blue. xD But mainly green and grey. 🙂

Right now though… They are a sage green designed with a delicate spiderweb of light green. Wow… I feel so weird being poetic about my own eyes… 😛 xD

Oh! And I can vouch for @eden-anderson. She does have gorgeous eyes. 😀 😀 😀

Well, now that I go and give myself a good scanning in the mirror, it appears the gold has lessened a lot. I think I used to have more when I was younger, but now it’s just the teeniest hints that you have to look closely to see.

Yup, I am a deep thinker, deep dreamer… I think eyes reflect the person inside (which is part of why I love eyes), and mine (evidently) can very easily betray me. What I think about something or other emotions are pretty obvious by my eyes (by what I have picked up from others and the fact that I am not good at hiding what I feel about something).

And yes, the glare comes in handy at times. Like when a younger sister declares that Legolas is hideous, or my brother says something outrageous. Or I need to glare at somebody on SE.

O.K. Try doing this. Go find a mirror and stand in front of the bathroom mirror. Angle it so you can observe what your eyes are doing while you’re not looking into them. It is really fun, and I may or may not have wasted a lot of time acting out stories by the aid of the mirrored medicine cabinet and mirror over the sink. You angle it just right and you can see what you look like from another person’s viewpoint. I’m so odd… I just read this and am wondering “what on earth, girl?” XD

Allow me to clarify a few things… My eyes are mostly grey… this means when they suck like in… it’s like a black hole… and in a low profile kind of way.

Greetings, dear @evelyn (why am I continuing to talk like I belong in England?), I find people are mostly mentioning grey/green, I think I’m outnumbered…

Spiderweb?? That’s really cool!!! I don’t quite have a spiderweb, but I get what you’re saying. I have more of a dark ice with a pale thread running through it.

I need no convincing, the brown and green sounds really cool.

Oh, and I forgot, @eden-anderson I was going to mention one odd thing my eyes do is when I’m crying they suddenly become super blue. Not light blue, but intensely blue. That kind of odd things.

And @wordsmith that is still cool. Dark eyes are cool eyes, but not brown dark eyes… That still sounds cool. Especially if it does indeed have some green speckles.

They turn blue when you cry? Wow, that’s really interesting. My eyes turn red when I cry. xD

Awww, you are too sweet! 😍

They are a sage green designed with a delicate spiderweb of light green.

They sound so beautiful!! (Have I ever told you that I just love your poetic way of looking at the world?!)

Oh and I am totally with you on the red eyes when I cry. 😛

    @ericawordsmith

Gold hints still sound super cool! 😀

Ahhh, yes…eyes and emotions! A truly intriguing subject! Doesn’t the saying go: ” The eyes are the window to the soul.” Yes, eyes are so fascinating and beautiful. They can tell you so much about a person!

Oh yeah, I have done that in the mirror before…it is quite fun! But usually I wasn’t looking at my eyes specifically.

(Haha, my sisters and I have differing opinions on how Legolas rates on the handsome scale, too…😜)

@ericawordsmith Interesting… I wonder what my eyes look like when I cry… they might go more greenish.

I sat in front of a mirror one afternoon crying as practice for Mock Trial auditions that night. I was so exhausted and depressed afterwards. When I start fake crying, I go all the way. xD

Speaking of eyes, one time I was at a restaurant and this waitress said she loved my eyes and it totally threw me off. 😛 Do any of you other girls have that happen? I mean where you’re not expecting a compliment and a guy just walks up and says “I like your new hair cut it makes you look like Lucy from Narnia,” and then you just get this deer in the headlights moment because it was so out of the blue and unexpected? xD

They sound so beautiful!! (Have I ever told you that I just love your poetic way of looking at the world?!)

Aww, thanks! You’re so sweet. 🙂

    @wordsmith
Yep, I saw her and she mentioned it.
