Hello! It is I, Vivian, the warrior queen of romance and adventure! The forum looks like an excellent place to reach out to other writers and give and get constructive critique. I regret not having joined sooner, but hey, better late than never!

Nice to meet you!
What kind of stories do you write?

Fantasy is the easiest genre to write in, in my opinion.
Kirat: Urwen, I wish you’d stop.
Me: *blinks* Stop what?
Kirat: Writing. You’re killing me. Literally.
Me: *laughs nervously* Can’t do that, sorry!
You’ve just met Kirat, my melodramatic, crazy child. I’m sure he’ll enjoy meeting you. . . *looks over to where Kirat’s running around screaming* When he’s done. . . with whatever he’s doing. 🙂
Who’re some of your favorite authors/books?

Naturally, J.K. Rowling is near the top of my list. Aron Christensen is also an author I admire, though I’ve only his coauthored Reforged Trilogy. Of course, I have a whole list of books in my head that I could rattle off, but the instant someone actually asks me to give a few examples I draw a blank.

Fantasy has endless possibilities, which is both a blessing and a curse. Making rules for magic is one of the curses.February 29, 2020 at 7:31 pm #107704
Nice to meet you, Kirat. Unfortunately, writing is as addicting as coffee, so… enough said.February 29, 2020 at 7:31 pm #107705
Oh yeah. . . No way. . . He’s my character. 🙂 XD
Kirat: *finally stopped chasing chipmunk around* Hi. . . Nice to meet you. . . *leans over to me* Urwen who is this?!
Me: A friend. I think. XD Depends on what they want to be classified as.
Kirat: Oh. . . *disappears into the rafters*
Jin: What’s going on here- Oh, hello.
Jin is another of my characters. 🙂

Dagger: And what new giddy obsession have you begun now, love?
Me: I’ve found a whole new source on how to make my characters simultaneously happy and miserable.
Dagger *Peering at previous replies*: I would like to get to know this Kirat fellow.
Me: Of *course* you would. Off with you– I’m busy.
Dagger is a pirate character of mine, hence the ‘love’ part.February 29, 2020 at 7:41 pm #107708
Have you heard of the Reforged Trilogy? Specifically, the first book is titled Crucible of Stars.February 29, 2020 at 7:42 pm #107709
Kirat: I’d like to get to know this guy, Urwen!
Me: I know you would, I like pirates, but they aren’t the best influence most of the time. . .
Kirat: *mutters something*
Me: What was that?
Kirat: I said I’m a dishonest man! And you can always trust a dishonest man to be dishonest!
Me: Kirat, you’re a baby.
Kirat: I’m fourteen!
Me: *sighs* Fiiiine, you can talk. But I’ll be monitoring you very closely!

Dagger: Fabulous! Vivie-darling, if you will allow me to take the keyboard.
Me: Alright, but I’m following urwen-starial’s suit. Don’t think I won’t be watching.
Dagger: Wouldn’t dream of it, darling.February 29, 2020 at 7:50 pm #107712
You can just call me Urwen. 🙂
Kirat: Nice to meet you Dagger. *smiles mischievously*
Jin: No. Kirat, I don’t know what you’re thinking. But it always ends badly.
Kirat: Oh Rhioe!
Rhioe: *enters room* *Sees Dagger, promptly leaves*
Kirat: She don’t like pirates much. . . XD there’s a reason.

In a nutshell (which is excruciatingly hard, because there is so much information), it is an inter-planetary, heavily Sci-Fi story revolving mostly around a fairy named Maeve. She is the first mate on a spaceship called the Blue Phoenix (if my memory is faithful), but keeps her troubled past completely hidden from her crew members. On top of this, she is being relentlessly pursued by a ruthless bounty hunter.
There is so much more I could say, but that is the setting stage for the entire story. It is a worthy read, and arguably my favorite Sci-Fi story.
