Hi Michaela! For me, I generally have several stories simmering in the background, but I can only really focus on one (maybe two, if one is fanfiction. Those tend to require less work). What I do (or, what I’d like to be doing) is have one project that I’m writing beginning to end. If I have a sudden burst of inspiration for something else, I can put other things on hold for a bit. I think I move on if I don’t feel the characters anymore, or if the plot just won’t cooperate. I always hope I’ll figure it out one day, but it’s okay to leave it alone for a while, particularly if other ideas are holding together better, or other characters are just more fun to write. Mostly, I’ve stopped working on stories because the plot is way too nebulous.
