What if you don’t have two complete novels, but every other requirement fits? I mean, I have enough words to compose two novels, but I’ve only finished one novel-length story.

You can still apply if you want. That’s a description of our ideal candidate.

  2. Coralie

Oh, sorry! Another question: is there any particular type of writing you guys are looking for? For instance, you mentioned contributing one submission a month, but of what type of work? Is this for the blog or for the poetry/short stories section of the site?

On the application, you’ll be asked to upload 2-3 samples of your writing that best represent your skill set and the type of pieces you’d contribute each month if you were on staff. Articles, poems, and stories are all part of the blog.

    • Coralie

Gotcha. I wasn’t sure if there was something specific you were looking for for this position or not. Thank you so much!!

Even as a writer, I doubt I could put into words the amazing experience it’s been to be a close part of Story Embers. I’ve learned so much in just the few months since it was founded, and I am not exaggerating in the least when I say that this team really is a family. It’s the best thing that has ever happened in my writing life (and one of the best in my life overall!). I’d definitely encourage all to apply. We’re so excited to have more people on board, and we can’t wait to work with whoever the Lord gives us!

I love your enthusiasm and your outlook on your SE family (and your works here on the site, too)! I hope you guys get the writer that your group needs!!

Hey, so on your ideal lost you said 20+. So would y’all prefer it if I didn’t apply since I’m still a few years away from that?

If you’re at least 18 and meet the minimum job requirements, you’re still welcome to apply. 🙂

could I still apply if i’m under age, and haven’t finished 2 novels..? Isn’t this encouraging young writers? I assume I won’t be picked… but.. I mean isn’t it good just to put yourself out there?

You’re welcome to apply if you’d like. We prefer candidates to be at least 18, but we might choose a younger applicant if their work is outstanding.

    • Katharine Ingalls

*nods* it’s too late now anyway. but yeah, and my work wouldn’t be outstanding..

This sounds awesome! However, I’m a few years away from the age requirement. Will there be internships available in the future?

    • Brianna Storm Hilvety

Yes, indeed! So stick around and keep an eye out. 😉

    • Anna Marie

      Thanks! 🙂

If I were a few years older and with a few hours more time to spare, I’d definitely sign up. Perhaps in the future I will though 😀

Really? I thought you were older. 😋 If you think you can find a few extra hours somewhere, maybe you should try applying anyway. After all, you got an article published on KP, and we already know you’re a good team player since you’re a guildmaster. 😉 I definitely understand time constraints though, and we’ll be opening applications again in the future, so there will be other chances if the time isn’t right for you yet. 🙂

    • K.M. Small

I’m a little over a year shy of your ideal candidate, but I’ll think about it 😀 Do you know when you’ll be opening applications again?

    • Brianna Storm Hilvety

We’ll probably open applications again within 6–8 months (or a year at the latest). 🙂

    • K.M. Small

*sorry, more than a year. I misread that sentence in the post 😛

  8. Chelsea R.H.

I’m definitely considering applying for this since I meet (most) of the requirements. I have two questions though: 1) I’m Australian, will that prevent me in anyway from applying? 2) you said in some of the other comments that you would prefer the applicants to be over eighteen. I’m currently about six weeks away from my eighteenth birthday. Would that be a problem?

Thanks so much for offering this opportunity!

    • Brianna Storm Hilvety

      1. Nope. We already have some Canadians on our staff, and two of our guildmasters are Australian. 🙂

      2. If you feel you meet several of the qualifications, go ahead and give applying a shot. 😉

In the application, it asks for “your personal testimony.” Are you looking for a spiritual testimony, or the story of how I became a writer?

    Reply
    • Josiah DeGraaf

      Spiritual testimony. 🙂

  10. Quinlyn Shaughnessy

Hello! I noticed that you ask for a resume as well as the writing samples. Is this supposed to be a standard resume of my job/volunteer experience? Are you interested in seeing high school achievements as well?

    Reply
    • Brianna Storm Hilvety

Yes, a standard resume. 🙂 If your high school achievements include details that would demonstrate your writing ability, then include them. Otherwise that information is probably unnecessary.
